Problem: So-called “small” Wireless Telecommunications Facilities (sWTFs) — might be smaller in dimension, but NOT IN POWER OUTPUT!

Demand MUCH SMALLER and LESS POWERFUL Wireless Equipment to Preserve Aesthetics & Quiet Enjoyment of Streets in Tucson’s Neighborhoods!

Public Safety Harms

A 2011 article in IEEE Spectrum says that the WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) — a working group of 31 scientists from 14 countries — reviewed the latest research and classified RF/MW electromagnetic fields/radiation — from any source — as Group 2B, “possibly carcinogenic to humans based on an increased risk for glioma, a malignant type of brain cancer.” Citing Studies completed from 2011 to 2020, Dr. Lennart Hardell and other members from that working group are calling to change RF Microwave Radiation to Group 1 — a definite human carcinogen. Privacy Harms

Despite a 2017 Telecom-friendly State Bill, HB.2365, all Arizona cities retain their authority to regulate the operations of Wireless Telecommunications Facilities (WTFs) to protect the quiet enjoyment of streets and residents’ constitutionally-guaranteed rights to privacy and safety. Densified 4G/5G WTFs in the public rights-of-way sacrifices privacy because once the pole is claimed, wireless or government entities can install whatever they want on the pole: video cameras, listening devices, or microwave devices that can image the interiors of homes. Property Value Harms

Arizona cities need to regulate the densified 4G/5G WTFs roll out and enter into a public process that delivers the least intrusive means to get the fastest, most reliable and energy-efficient Internet access . . . that is Wireline fiber-optics direct to our homes. We also must turn down the the power of WTFs to a safe level near homes, schools and parks. WTFs constructed close to homes significantly reduces property values. A peer-reviewed study in the 2005 Appraisal Journal, said homes near WTFs are devalued 20% to 25%.

Overpowered 4G/5G Wireless Infrastructure in Residential Zones

5G stands for the 5th generation of wireless cellular technology. 5G, however, is an unfortunate and fuzzy Wireless industry marketing term that just means “what’s coming next.” 5G does not replace 4G, it is an addition to it . . . because 5G depends on the surveillance capabilities of 4G in order to know where to send the powerful 5G beamformed blast of wireless electromagnetic power through the air that carries the digital data. This is an extremely energy-inefficient way to send digital data (fiber optic cables are much better) and the current plan of densifed 4G/5G antennas invading your neighborhoods is hazardous to your family.

Densified 4G/5G is what is being rolled out. The hype is simply for compliance: to convince you to go along with the industry’s plan to unnecessarily invade your neighborhoods in order to surveil you 24/7, collect and sell your private data, pollute your homes, schools and parks, and ruin the quiet enjoyment of streets — all so that Big Wireless can charge you higher prices for a few unsubstantiated benefits.

Don’t be bamboozled by the propaganda of the Telecom industry — they have been the masters “bait and switch” for 30 years, stretching all the way back to the unfulfilled promises of the “information super highway” of the early 1990’s. They have built their empire based on deception.

The problem is foolishly attempting to send BIG DATA wirelessly (streaming audio/video, internet and gaming) when all we need is small data for wireless phone calls/texts.

  • Attempting to send BIG DATA wirelessly is inconsistent with Federal law: Title 47 § 324Use of Minimum Power says: “In all circumstances all radio . . . shall use the minimum amount of power necessary to carry out the communication desired.”
  • The Wireless industry already knows the “minimum amount of power necessary” for calls/texts is between -85 dBM and -125 dBm (a measure of wireless signal strength), so anything more powerful than -85 dBM in neighborhoods is unnecessary and hazardous.

It has already been established in 2019 in Sacramento, CA with professional RF-EMR measurements that a single so-called “small” Wireless Telecommunications Facility (sWTF) that is 35 feet vertical and 60 feet horizontal offset from a home, transmitted -10 dBm into the bedroom shared by 3-year- and 6-year-old girls, who became ill in a just a few of weeks.

That means power — in the bedroom — that is 25-30 million times higher than needed for 5-bars telecommunications service . . . 24/7, day-after-day, week-after-week, year-after-year, until the family moves. To move, the family has to accept offers that are 25-30% lower than for similar houses on the same street. That’s a significant dollar loss in property value.

How does that Densified 4G/5G so-called “small” Wireless Telecommunications Facility near your house sound now?

Without strict local control of the maximum power output to the “minimum power necessary for the communication desired,” the City of Tucson is unwittingly poisoning our neighborhoods with a known toxic pollutant: pulsed, data-modulated, Radio-frequency Electromagnetic Microwave Radiation (RF-EMR) at excessive power levels.
